Repent to Jesus Christ
“I waited patiently for the Lord; he turned to me and heard my cry. He lifted me out of the slimy pit, out of the mud and mire; he set my feet on a rock and gave me a firm place to stand.”
Psalms 40:1-2 NIV

Dude fucking minutemen is a fucking masterpiece omg I fully forgot about that shit
Omg Boi , Fox and the hound and Zelda! Your soul kin mate 😜 👍
hell. i know this video is kinda older but one thing you forgot to mention if you didnt already know about is that there are disney adult gangs. people make these biker jackets and literally have gangs they associate with. idk if they do any violent crime activity but still kinda weird. also nice vid
I would fight everyone cause I'm both. : )
Thanks for having me on this deep dive, Kurtis!
Legend
Isaac, you have a very very nice smile.
love how most of these comments are just "Hey!" but anyways Hey!
ur awesome!
you were great isaac good job :)
The día de muertos thing personally made me scream out loud, like here in Mexico we were colonized and took years of fight and wars to finally break free from the Spaniards and now white people get to pick and choose what aspects of our culture they get to profit from like the día de los muertos merch and the fact that disney sells alebrijes figurines when the people who make them by hand and sell them on the streets are barely making money. And on another note, because of the false narrative that they sold people with the movie Coco, I was actually asked if there were theaters and potable water in mexico, Americans deadass think that Mexico is just big ass pueblito
Uhm…don’t say Americans bc I am Mexican American. I have Mexican blood but was born and raised here. I think you mean white people?? 😭😭and I understand what you are saying but honestly I feel happy seeing people enjoy parts of my culture. I love going to the Mexican markets and seeing people of other ethnicities shopping for goods!!💕
U.S Americans are so funny with how they see the outside world. I used to wait tables and this couple asked where I was from and I told them Chile. Tell me why these people looked me dead in the eye and where like "Is that a city in Mexico? Did you like encanto?" My eyes rolled out of my fucking skull cause It was such a funny interaction.
You all forgot that everything’s got an orange tint here
🙄🙄🙄🙄🙄🙄🙄🙄🙄🙄
I feel like the pueblo thing is more general ignorance than coco's fault
"just a warning guys I'm gonna be making fun of Disney adults"
*proceeds to make one of the most supportive pieces of commentary about Disney adults who isn't one himself with like 3 jokes*
@ember bro what? 🤨
@Praise Jesus, Repent or Likewise Perish wanna kiss?
i legit based all of my future viewing of this guy's channel on how he went about this video. he passed.
@Tide Pod Pad Thai u deserve waaaaay more judgement if u really believe that
Granted, it’s been years since I’ve been to Disneyland. However the last time I was there there was a group of adults walking around in biker “cuts” basically denim vests with both custom and official Disney patches sewed on them. There was like twenty of them. They wore riding boots and other assorted biker gear. Honestly, it was one of the wildest things I ever saw there. Do they carry ball peen hammers and box cutters when the rumble breaks out with the Tomorrowland Tusslers?
There straight up are "Disney biker gangs" roaming those parks. Cracked did a piece on them a while back.
I've heard of that lol
Those guys have showdowns with The Warriors
Don't forget that Disney historically has criminally underpayed their workers, there were major strikes etc.
@dog in the state I am from that is absolutely not true. But the moral of the story is the same, get experience in a field with a low paying entry level job, learn the trade while getting paid, work hard and demonstrate that you are worth more. Finally advocate for yourself and job shop, go somewhere that will pay you right. You don't have to work for Disney. I know you'll make some excuse why that's too hard, but excuses don't get results.
@Andrew Penhollow accounting for inflation and the increased cost of living, the minimum wage is actually lower now. young adults these days also have much less wealth than people of the same age in previous decades. i think it's silly to assume today's youth is simply lazier and more incompetent than those of older generations.
@Andrew Penhollow Why is that a bad thing if it's being taught to third graders
@dog I should also specify that I'm not referring to FL minimum wage. I was talking about the state I was in. But still I think the employees could improve their working conditions by bettering themselves as workers and find a more skilled labor job with growth opportunities. And don't make excuses like it's hard to do. Sometimes life is hard work, get over it.
@Ivy the bill is literally to stop it being taught to like third graders, not high schoolers. Please read the text of bills before you complain, otherwise you are perpetuating lies.
I dated a Disney adult a while back for like 2 years. The one positive thing I'll say is that it's really easy to get them gifts
@Stephen Liu it wasn't just the last few minutes tho ? even at the beginning he says that there's nothing inherently wrong with Disney adults. he makes it very clear imo, and even when I first watched this, my takeaway wasn't that he was simply making fun of them. I haven't seen any of the comments ur referring to. sure, some ppl make jokes, and I'm sure there's also some that just shit on Disney adults (which isn't great ofc) but tbh the majority is pretty harmful and it's not just ppl telling them to grow up or get a grip or something
5 year relationship with a wanna be Disney princess..... glad it's over.
@Gabriela Stan I think you're misunderstanding them. Their main problem is that the comments here are obviously still making fun of Disney adults as weird and bad, even if the last few minutes of Kurtis's video says you shouldn't think that. Also, he doesn't arrive at that point until the last few minutes of a 30+ minute video. If he meant that as his main takeaway, maybe he should've been more upfront about it?
I’m not a hardcore disney fan but I’m happy to get a Disney gift too or any anime plush
@HardyQuinn as it should. Legitimately a huge red flag
I did a lot of research on the evolution of fandom when I was in college, granted specifically looking at LOTR in the 60’s & 70’s vs today. Basically the research suggests that back in the day people used to consume and then create to show their appreciation for what they were fans of. Now it has evolved into pure consumerism because companies and corporations saw that we wanted to show what we loved… but it’s just kept snowballing. A fan MUST have as much merchandise as possible to show that they’re a true fan. For Disney especially they’ve gone above and beyond to provide purchasing opportunities and now we’re just stuck in this cycle where society tells us we need to prove our love and wrap our identity in the things we like and corporations like Disney are happy to helpz
@Anita Mihholap Very true, those are some more good examples!
@marshm3llow knowing LOTR, cosplay too, perhaps? Reenactments? I know Star Trek fans did.
@CM3 Carranza As someone in a lot of fandoms, I'll take a wild guess and say the creations are fanfiction and fanart. That's still the largest part of fanculture today.
I really like his complex and multifaceted take, it’s not “they good” or “they bad,” it’s genuinely refreshing for nonpolar takes on social media
Where can we see this research? It sounds interesting. What types of creations were done to show fandom? What caused the change in behavior?
i, personally, am not a disney adult, but in response to that podcast you mentioned in the interview, not everyone had the privilege of money to get a chance to go to the parks as a child. let them experience what they want because you don’t know them or why they’re there
eeeeexactly my thought. I was very privileged and did get to go as a kid and while I had fun, not my thing, won’t go back. But lots of other people didn’t and I don’t begrudge them the desire to do so
I 100% percent agree with you not everyone had the money to go to Disneyland. They should get the chance to experience something they couldn't as a child.
I'm really glad Kurtis brought up that being a Disney adult could be due to a neurodivergent hyperfixation. As someone who's had hyperfixations, sometimes it's really not your fault you're as into something as you are and it's just how your brain works at that moment. So I love that he brought that up as a reason.
I went to Disneyland with a Disney adult and they micromanaged EVERYTHING. Apparently I enjoy Disneyland incorrectly 🙄
I love the fact that you worked hard to distinguish between creepy Disney adults and normal Disney adults who just want to have fun without hurting anyone
This
I could never join the Hells Angels... I do not know how to ride a bike.... of any kind..
@Bel H ???
There’s a difference between adults who enjoy Disney, and Disney Adults™
My wife wanted to get married at Disneyworld. I am a hardcore anti-capitalist. I love my wife more than I hate corporations. I snuck in an officiant and we got married privately in front of a fountain with a few of our best friends, then we rode theme park rides all day.
Honestly, sure, I spent a couple thousand dollars on tickets and a resort for a few days before we went on our honeymoon, but I had fun; and I can't think of a better wedding gift for me than getting to look back and remember I probably stole six figures worth of wedding from the Disney corporation.
@Christopher Roque ??
that's kinda wholesome
Very commendable
anti-capitalist..
My biggest problem with Disney adults is that a lot of them buy into the “Disney is a magical place where dreams come true” thing wayyy too much. If you’re gonna enjoy something, you should at least speak out about the harmful sides of it. Disney is a depersonalised, harmful, mega corporation and acting like it’s just about the fantasy and the movies takes away the seriousness of certain situations. The guy who got interviewed seemed pretty alright, just a guy who likes Disney and making disney videos. But if someone were to act like Disney’s perfect/defend the company all the time, just bc lf their personal love for the movies, then I have a problem with it. And while there’s nothing wrong with enjoying kids’ movies as an adult, I do think that no one should watch only one type of thing for the rest of their life. We learn and expand our horizons from seeing other persectives, especially in media. If a “disney adult” knew how to balance these aspects, then I wouldn’t have a problem w it.
As a Disney fan, the fandom does criticize the company’s bad actions.
If I were designing a “Disney” house or any house themed after any entertainment business. I would design it so that all the references are really seem-less. Like I’d have the stain glass window from beauty and the beast but you would only know it’s from there if you watched the movie. That’s kinda my philosophy for any sort of merchandise.
This is my favorite type of merch, the "if you know, you know"
subtle merch is s tier, it's so embarrassing to walk around in a shirt about how you like something :/
yes! i actually think the raillings are a good example of this.
yesss subtle merch is a million times more interesting to me than names and logos
I totally agree, merch like that is really cool
I genuinely from personal experience think that the most horrifying incarnation of a Disney adult you can meet is the Disney College Program members……
I was going to do that as an international student, just to experience living in a different country and being able to go to Disney and Universal since they're so close together, never did it but it would have looked great on a CV 😂😂
@J Hoop no lol. You take a semester off from college classes or take some online, while you work for minimum wage in the theme parks, live in Disney owned apartments with 2 or 3 individuals per bedroom at above market prices that they siphon directly out of your paycheck each week leaving you with barely enough money for food. You don’t get the same overtime pay or “perks” as regular cast members because you’re not in the union (in Florida not California) and you work the hours that union members don’t want to be scheduled. Usually closing getting home around 1 am after an hour long bus ride. They call it an internship, but I don’t think many companies value frying food and stocking stuffed animals as a valuable internship. It’s so terrible that I did it once on each coast for 6 months each 😅
@Droxalis don't they get their entire education paid for and a job? Seems pretty good to me.
Oh yeah I was going to do that lol. I wanted to work abroad with all expenses paid. Plus I like the parks and the history behind them (I'm a tier 2 disney adult I guess?). I wanted to experience working at the parks and get some back stage access to the rides. I couldn't really be bothered to apply in the end, especially when I wouldn't get much money out of it
Ah yes. The poorly paid college slave work force that Disney has managed to slip under the radar.
the biggest problem i’ve ever had with disney adults is whenever a disney adult refuses to be critical of the corporation they’re following. you can enjoy something and still recognize and push back against its flaws, folks!
I don’t get where you getting this from. Many Disney fans, including myself, criticize the company. If non-Roblox fans know that Roblox fans criticize the Roblox Corporation, why can’t non-Disney fans know that the same.
AGREE 100%
@joujou264 There's not really a lot people can do about that. I wouldn't defend Disney as a company or any corporation really, but I'm not gonna hold it against people for buying things from the company.
As a Nintendo adult, agreed. I tend to be more defensive of the company than those who haven’t been fans since childhood, but I’ll still acknowledge when they really do mess up...
Then I’ll buy the product anyway ha....
@Rohe Garcia I feel that. I hate JK Rowling but I really enjoyed the Harry Potter books as a kid. Now I just “find” the content so She doesn’t profit off of it
Those Golden Oak houses would be awesome to live in if the designer constructed the homes to resemble ACTUAL interiors from the movies. They just slapped some stickers on the wall and called it
Literally a hobby like every single human being on earth has. Of course there will be some nut jobs that take it too far but every hobby has those type of people so I personally don't think its fair to single out Disney Adults and not other hobbies as well.
Great video as usual Kurtis! Keep up the good work man!
the golden oak thing actually seems like a nice idea for like resort accommodation, like if I were to visit disney and stay in one of those houses for a couple of days it would be great, just for immersions sake. but to actually live there seems so excessive, it feels like it would old so quickly. on top of that to live in one of the most popular attractions in the world And be under the eye of a corporation in your own house just feels like something that would be 1000x better in theory
I like how multifaceted and ultimately positive your outlook is. So much of the criticism I see when it comes to Disney Adults is just that they care too much about something that is literally manufactured to be incredibly enjoyable to experience. Now I live just an hour or so away from Disney World by car, and so I know a lot of Disney Adults, and they're so much more pleasant to interact with than the people who insist they're all annoying weirdos.
there’s the level of disney adult where it’s like, “yeah i own a set of mickey mouse measuring spoons i got as a gift” and then there’s “this is my multi million dollar collection of disney themed items and i go in to debt on a yearly basis so i can go to disney”
I've known ppl who have spent thousands on film cels. It's crazy.
watched this like yeah "that guy plays zelda" then realize I was just playing hyrule warriors 😂🎉
Haha thank you! I was starting to wonder if I should throw out some of my Disney kitchen stuff I got as a gift cuz I don’t even like it that much... I just love Disney because the movies are literally art and the parks are fun! But I don’t get tattoos or anything lol
True. Like all things, there are levels. Lol
There is a massive positive when it comes to adults liking Disney. Here me out here but there are a lot of disabled adults and children who find buying the same stuff and experiences other able bodied people can get a massive strain on Thier wallet. For instance when Harry Potter came out it cost a fortune for the audible book for blind users. This was before audio books became popular. The first audiobook was about £45 for just one copy but the book was £6.99 give or take a quid or so. With adults getting involved it has forced companies like Disney to have more accessible material for all users. Walk ways in Disney land are wide, with large doorways and ramps this is one of few places disabled people can access entertainment without being blocked. Keep being cringe with your love of kids stuff people it really does help.
@Aaron Hoy exactly. and Disneyland is definitely not financially accessible to many people either.
Legally they have to provide accessibility like wider doorways, ramps etc. to less able people otherwise they can be taken to court for discrimination. If they could get away with it Disney wouldn't do any of these things so they could inflate their profits
I mean in fairness I dont think they care about disabled. they wouldnt even let disabled children who couldnt wear a mask into the park.
I guess things were different in the UK then because those prices are wildly different than what the prices were in the US. The first Harry Potter book when released over here was like $19.99 & every subsequent book ranged from $19.99 to $29.99 & the at least for the first audio cassette it was like $24.99. So, there wasn't much of a price a difference in them at all.
As far as the disabled access at Disney, that isn't a result of adults being involved... it is a result of the ADA legislation & them just utilizing industrial engineering & their own experience in dealing with visitors to try & maximize visitor spending & experience.
My Mom is 63 and she loves Disney. She loves it because of all the fond memories with my Grandparents when she was a kid. I was so happy and proud of myself when i was financially secure enough to get her an annual pass. My Mom has worked hard her whole life and has been the best Mom anyone could ask for. So if she wants to go to Disneyland, I'm taking my Momma to Disneyland🏰💜
this genuinely made me smile
What’s funny is disney, unofficially of course, says that the reason you’re not allowed to dress up is because kids will take photos with you and will take money away from the photos and autographs.
Source???
Or to avoid little children approaching random weirdos in costume??
I’m pretty sure it’s just about quality control, as illustrated by the scenario described in the video…not everything is a conspiracy
The golden oak thing reminds me: didnt Epcot start in concept with that idea? I do remember that Disney wanted to do a gated community.
Yup! It literally stands for “Experimental Prototype Community of Tomorrow” - en.wikipedia.org/wiki/EPCOT_(concept)
Glad he brought up the Dia de Los Muertos trademark scandal it seemed like everyone forgot that and I still don’t forgive Disney for it
I just heard of it and it's hilarious
Imagine an alternate reality where Disney did in fact buy the rights, and now every year there's "Coco Day"
Disney fans will make any excuse to justify their undying support tho, or just neatly make any excuse to *overlook* stuff like this.
@Nadia Molina hello where are you from in Mexico? I’m from Guanajuato Mexico 🇲🇽
@Mario Antonio Crespo México yeah,,, i'm mexican too
I actually think you handled this nicely. I don't feel like you attacked anyone, maybe brought into question bad coping mechanisms. Though I can't act blameless, I have my own fantasies that are historical based or Star Wars themed(I guess thats Disney now too).
3:03
Does he know that if drinks, for example a ride water, it’s gonna be throw up? Disney only cleans things the public sees, making the water in river rides extremely dirty and disgusting.
I identify with the first level of the iceberg, but I think the Disney imagineers/technology that Disney has access to is super cool
Personally Disney is something that I’ve used to cope with a lot, it makes me feel like a kid again and it makes me happy! But at the same time it’s important to recognize how bad the corporation is, I just think people need to stop completely hating on people who like things they don’t. Yeah sometimes the extent they go to is a bit much but if it makes people happy without hurting people, leave them alone! I love how Kurtis made this in a way that was not absolutely hating on them for no reason
i went to high school with a “disney adult” she now works at the park and is going to school to be a music teacher. her room is disney themed, her clothes are disney themed. everything is disney, but damnit she is one of the sweetest and most lovable people ever. if there was ever to be a real life disney princess she is it !!
This is honestly the cutest thing ever
@joujou264 I really wonder what you think of neurodivergent people are if you think this poorly of these Disney adults.
@joujou264 Having hyperfixations on something doesn't make someone sick or addicted. The girl on op's comment can hold a job and on the other comment the "obsessive people" went to college. We have to understand that yes, it can be bad, but honestly it can be just someone doing what they like, like the green or purple lady, or maybe they are neurodivergent. Just let people do what they want, to generalize that all of them are a problem or harmful is just stupid.
@joujou264 i was referring to your last sentence about boycotting disney
And i did word that wrong as this is literally a snarking channel
i just mean that if we’re going to have the energy to actually call people out maybe do someone a bit more serious but this isn’t the place for that
Disney employees have reported to be payed really badly. There was even that case of a woman who lived in her car and worked at Disney. I really hope it doesn't shatter hear fantasy :/ she seems like a truly sweet person indeed
I shed a few tears when I went to see my first metal show after the pandemic so…. Yeah it was an emotional moment to get to do something in society again 🤷🏽♀️
On the one hand, this either screams special interest or in touch with their inner child so I'm happy they can do what they love and making fun of them for liking something sucks. But on the other hand, Disney is a problematic company and even as much as I adore Disney movies, I can't watch some of them without thinking of the employees behind them and such which kills the magic. Enjoy Disney all you want, but a level awareness has to be there for anything you enjoy. Either way, people should be allowed to enjoy what they want and not receive shit for it just cause "it's for kids." Especially since a lot of autistic folks tend to gravitate towards more "kids" things. I used to make fun of my brother for liking kids shows when he was an adult man, but I realized how shitty it was and that it was a projection of my own insecurities with being made fun of for my interests. Really just let people enjoy what they want long as it isn't harming themselves or others. Being aware of the shitty things something you love has done doesn't mean you can't enjoy it (in most cases.) It does entirely depend on the thing itself, but overall, these adults are being who they are. Might not make sense to some of us, but if it makes them happy, more power to em. I've had my interests in things mocked since I was in elementary school so no way am I gonna mock someone else for theirs. This is probably a safe thing for them and that's wonderful :) it's awful how Disney can be as a company and probably take advantage of them, but I hope any Disney adult is doing well. /gen
Edit: Hit post before I was done typing.
both my parents are disney adults and i would say its not harmful- just a tad weird. i do get disney trips almost every summer so thats cool 👍
i love Disney, it really helps my anxiety bc it makes me feel like a little kid and im only worried about the plot/characters. but the fact these people make it their *ENTIRE* personality is too much
I only like the older movies, once Frozen was a thing I started hating Disney. But I'll definitely rewatch Aladdin and Wall E once in a while.
I doubt its their ENTIRE personality in real life their probably different.
I love that Kurtis always tries to actually dissect things and give valid criticism instead of just ripping on it with no research, he's an intellectual
@Quiche money bud. Birds die for food but humans die for greed. It's very easy for a lot of people to readjust their bottom line with some money involved. Look at any single show or hobby, you'll see that negative criticism gets much more attention than positive reinforcement, because human nature is just like that. That's why most PLclip chernels just shit on anyone and anything niche or slightly not inline with a generalized opinion because people eat it up
It’s nice that he has this magical human thing called empathy. No clue why that seems so rare
was just thinking this. he does great research which allows him to give a balanced view and also learn to one side
yeah i appreciated him talking at the end about how there are so many reasons someone would cry at disney so we shouldn’t make fun of them :)
He did the same with furries lol a sweetheart
From my own personal experience with a few 'disney adults', they aren't as happy behind closed doors as they try and portray outwardly.
Could be just that I knew a few 'bad' ones but it might be that their obsession is covering for something deeper that is broken inside them.
I am a self identified Disney adult I always come back to this video because it’s one of the most respectful pieces about Disney adults I’ve ever seen. Obviously there are problems within the fandom (cough cough the Walt Disney Company itself) but most of us just love the artists, the animators, the ride designers, the writers. Disney helps me cope with the harsh reality that I face every other day. Let me watch kids movies damnit!
As soon as I heard you can live in Disney I just was like “….is..is this a cult?”
I looked into this whole Disney adult thing once cause my coworker was being really weird about Disney. Apparently people use it as a coping mechanism in response to trauma. Adults will watch movies/shows that brought them comfort in their childhood. It feels familiar and allows them to escape their current difficulties. It's psychologically interesting.
On a fitting note: Tony Todt, a man who murdered his entire family, lived in Disney's celebration village in Florida. So Kurtis really wasn't too far off on that being the bottom of the iceberg
I believe that mostly his chronically ill wife and family lived in Celebration, and he was commuting frequently between there and his physical therapy practice out of state. He was also running some sort of medical insurance fraud through said practice.
see, kids, this is why everyone hates florida.
( as a floridian, the adults here are ruining it for us )
My expression reading this 😳😶
@ZeroFox75 You also have Florida man
holy shit
Really liked this video. Personally i dont care too much about disney but i love when people get passionate about things and think telling people whats okay to like abd what not is just silly. Isaac seemed like a really sweet person and im glad that you put so much effort into this!
I had my honeymoon at Disney World and we honestly rarely dealt with kids, at least in our hotel! It was tons of fun, everyone gave us free stuff just because we had cute little buttons that said we just got married, including free alcohol. I went once before in high school for a band trip, but I had tons more fun as an adult tbh. Like Kurtis said, it brings happiness, which is harder and harder to keep as you get older. As far as Disneybounding, Disney is just another thing that's set fashion trends for years, like when Minnie Mouse brought in the spotted dress in the 40s or 50s! 😊 You can be as casual or as accurate to whoever you dress up like as you want. I wouldn't live inside the parks (since I want a small farm to be more independently sustainable) but it sounds cool to visit lmao
Hm. Autistic people can be overwhelmed by the large amounts of noise in the parks, but the childhood wonder and nostalgia is appealing. I've always wanted to go to the big Orlando site, more for it's fandom attractions. Also Disney world, I heard, has a newer sensory room for autistic kids and adults to cool off and be in the quiet.
i honestly think the disney houses are neat, seeing disney as this modern-ish house. i think finding the easter eggs would be fun, but the concept of living in the park is a bit odd.
I feel like calling your cat simba is way more chill than getting a permanent tattoo
Simba is also just "lion" in Swahili.
It's just like naming a cat after a celebrity or other character, my first cat was named Zelda, and my new shelter cat is named Jack Black, so I have no room to judge.
Also, I see no issue with getting a tattoo of a character you really like or identify with. For me, it's getting just generic Disney tattoos -- glorifying the company itself, rather than anything specific -- that is a little bit much.
I mean, even then, as long as no one is hurting anyone else, I don't see any reason to make a big deal out of it. Let people like what they like and all that.
@Cowabunga My Dude Are you thinking about a cymbal?
What about a tattoo of your cat, Simba?
i didn’t know disney adults were a acknowledged archetype, but… i know the type. i absolutely adore disney, i grew up 30 minutes from disneyland, and i went once every year or two. might even put together an outfit mildly inspired by a character, but not cosplay or anything. i generally just love fantasy as a whole. but the people who make it their entire personality? mmmmh… no 😂
The thing that bogs me about Disney adults, is that they seem too live in an abusive, manipulativ relationship with a company that only cares about their money.
As someone in the second tier on the iceberg and just generally a huge fan of animation
I LOVE some details of the disney houses like they just feel cozy
But oh god the rest of them are so overboard
Hidden Mickeys on the stair railing?
Adorable!
Mickey mouse water fountain outside and beauty and the beast characters in the elevator?
Whyyyyyyyyyy
I’m SOMEWHAT of a big Disney fan. But more like a t shirt at the parks, not a full outfit. I’m like Disney freak on the DL. And I appreciated your point of view and jokes. I was personally attacked, laughed, and was entertained all at once.
When people stay stuff like “you already had your shot at childhood, grow up” it just infuriates me because not everyone’s family could afford going to Disney parks when they were kids lol
@\\ I honestly think a lot of the hatred comes from people who in particular have had children, so their sense of freedom/autonomy has been stifled slightly thus making them resentful of anyone (esp 20s/30s year olds) having authentic fun. Misery loves company 🤔
I don’t know why people think that kids own petting zoos, Disney, swings and lollipops….they don’t even appreciate them anyway!
I never went to Disney as a kid. Trick or treating at Disney as an adult is hella fun tho. At least until the backache sets in from the weight of all the candy 😂
Be a man dude
My dad always said that the secret to youth was to Never Grow Up and always remain a child at heart. You know what he was right😉😁
I feel that every Disney adult I see is like, “aaahh… you were a theatre kid. Got it.”
Watching this video sent me into a waist-high dive on the companies that Disney owns, and I found out that Disney (unfortunately) doesn't actually own a company called Synergy Group :(
My problem with certain "Disney adults" or any other medium for that matter is when they force their children into it too. You want a fast way to breed resentment in your child? Make their lives nothing but what you're obsessed with.
I think you're my new fave YTer. I love how you really think about this kind of thing. Let people have fun as long as they're not hurting anyone while being critical of the thing itself.
Seeing Disney adults protest the park closing during the pandemic was both hilarious and depressing
i dont even know why youre all arguing about this. its just a simple matter of people liking different things. obviously, someone who loves Disney would enjoy going to their theme parks, its common sense. someone who doesnt would obviously not.
@birdeynamnam annual passes and Florida residents. If you know how to do Disney you can buy a pass and spend nothing while at the parks and have a good time.
@Nicripolas besides the rides it’s more of the atmosphere of the parks. Epcot is the perfect just go and walk around park. They have great food good new shows. It’s just a happy place. A lot of times people try to say the parks are for kids. But I don’t think that’s true and I don’t think Walt Would say that was true either. Walt made the park for himself and his family. It was a place to be creative and live out dreams. I still think the parks represent that today. People also seem to think it’s just a bunch of screaming children and tacky rides, but to be honest there are more adults at Disney than kids and the rides, attractions, shows, and events continuously break bounds on what I thought was possible in the terms of immersion. I thought that universal was on par with Disney for a while but after a bit all of their attractions were just 3d screens and what’s the fun in that. Disney is genuinely impressive the amount of time and money they put into every minute detail is impressive. The parks are just a relaxing happy place for me.
I've always have gripes with individuals actively wanting to live in their personal fantasy world instead of accepting reality.
@MKsomething exactly, people are too infected by capitalism to realize how stupid these pollution parks are
I feel like disney bounding is the least weird part. Ever heard of Comicon lmaoo? I feel like its funnier that Disney made a themepark in france when the frwnch populous didn't want it
“Go somewhere beautiful, don’t go to Orlando”
Drew is punching the air rn
i was the bridesmaid for my brother's wife at their disney wedding and i know it sounds very gimmicky, but the venue they chose was absolutely gorgeous. you can choose to get married at a few of the resorts which aren't nearly as over-the-top as the parks themselves. they got married on the water at the grand floridian at night, it was very beautiful. it's definitely a good option, especially if you already live in the orlando area. granted, i don't know how much it cost them. sister-in-law said it wasn't "too much" but she grew up lowkey rich, and my family was dirt poor so she might have a different perspective on cost.
As a member of Gen X I just want to say I don't think most Millennials deserve the hate they get. Millennials have grown up in a world that in many ways, especially technologically, no other humans in history have experienced in their formative years.
Millennials are a generation that not only had/has to find who they are in themselves. As all do, but also do so in a world that has in many grown increasingly detached from others.
Their challenges are not the hardships of the Great Depression, nor even of the 80s like I knew...no they face many social, political & personal challenges the world still doesn't have answers for.
They are not bad young folk for the most part, but the world by & large seriously failed them.
@Peach Pie I try, thank you
You're very wise
i cant even really make fun of disney adults because i can only imagine how id act if there was a theme park for my special interests
@dudebro sure....ur at the park lol. U don't wear said outright 24/7.... like mouse ears
@DOTcomm if i went to the nintendo theme park id definitely theme a cute outfit around it. it's fun
If there was a Star Trek theme park I'd probably lose my shit too
@Deez Nuts its called the Army. You get a free gun when you sign up lma0
EXACTLY YOU GET IT
I literally cope with my trauma with child-like actives and content and I could NEVER live at Disney. I’d hate to even stay on the resort for more than two nights. I’d feel so scared to accidentally scratch the wall and owe Disney $10,000 in damages
Lol, I was thinking the same thing, I absolutely love TLoZ. 💚 Although, Nintendo has done some sketchy stuff recently, especially with copyright and Joycons. It's so important to be aware of the cons to make ethical decisions regarding a company. ✌️
Guy from insert: "You had your chance in childhood." Nah dude, some of us were poor af. I'm 21 and never been. Not a disney adult btw, but would love to go and have a chance to enjoy it before I have a kid.
We’re parents who were able to take their now grown kids to Disneyland often and enjoy the park at a reasonable pace with reasonable wait lines. We were able to see and do everything and loved fastpass!
Hearing complaints lately that the experience has been compromised by Disney letting too many people in the park at once.
One solution may be to have special family days and other adults only days to relieve some of the congestion-or is this already a thing?
I’d hate to see Disney ruin the experience out of greed. I can completely understand the frustration of parents of young children struggling to get through a park congested with Disney Adults but the park is for everyone so Disney needs to address this.
I've always said, there is a huge difference between "adults who like Disney" and Disney Adults 😬
@Sabah Going to the parks is totally fine though? Even going often is fine. Nothing is wrong with wanting to have fun! It's called an "amusement" park for a reason; it's amusing!
What makes you a "Disney Adult" is obsessing over Disney so much that you defend Walt's Nazism and racism, watch Disney nonstop everyday, and wish to live in the park...
Even if you’re deemed a Disney adult, who cares what others think
@Npc I'm knot Lollll true it is expensive but honestly I never really liked rollercoasters or amusement parks so I never begged my parents to go
I was literally going to comment this ✋🏼😌
Ok I unironically listen to disney songs and make disney references but I never go to the parks so hopefully I'm safe :')
I'm watching this late Friday afternoon. So like 26 hours from Saturday night, but close! My wife is on her way home from work. I grabbed flowers, wine, I'm making Chicken fried Steak and you're keeping me company Kurtis.
I love Disney, I'm technically an adult, but I don't take it as far as these people. I've only been to Disney world 2 times when I was a toddler and a baby but I would still love to go. It's not my whole life but the movies and shows did shape me as a person
*My uncle is a huge Disney fan. He has Disney memorabilia all over his game room of his house. It's stacked with Mickey Mouse sh_t, a poster of Walt Disney, and tons of other Disney properties. It's sickening.*
i wish there wouldve been more on disney bounding, its so creative and looks really fun, wouldve loved to see his take on it
You know, when it comes to the Disney House, going to the theme parks every month, and buying their merch, one quote comes to mind:
“Most of us can’t afford to be this delusional”
-Noel Miller
@Frey Putri yep! That’s what I was referring to. Sorry I should clarify that!
@ella i think they were referring to the blonde lady from the golden oak bit
gotta love racially ambiguous man
@ella Disney is hella expensive, why doesn’t it fit?
tbh i don’t think that applies here
I did do a honeymoon at Disneyworld because I wanted to see manatees and decided I wanted to experience it if I was already traveling to Florida all the way from New Zealand. It was more fun that I expected! And as part of a gay couple, knowing I wouldn't have to deal with homophobia was relaxing.
When you started talking about the housing community within Disney World, it immediately brought to mind these $2 million condos in the next town over from mine that are attached to a mall... Like you said, if you have a couple million dollars to spend on a really nice home, whyyyyy would you want it to be connected to a Macy's or Hot Topic? Same goes for living IN Disney World. Just super freaking cringey and weird.
Dealing with anxiety, there's something in my brain that wishes I was this deep into a fandom. Just imagine being able to buy a piece of merchandise or go to the theme park to make myself happy and content.
I personally love Disney because of the art, and the messages it spreads, the emotions... + It's a big part of my childhood.
But I also love Ghibli movies, many animes, cartoons... Tbh it's only because i love animation.
And i don't understand why this is perceived as something childish because
... It's literal art ? Like millionaires buying paintings aren't called children.
I wouldn't see myself going to any disney park because it's way too overpriced, but still let's respect people who enjoy animation and ⭐✨feelings⭐✨
Xochilt Moreno You can still like avatar the last airbender, Mario, etc and not at like a child.
Grow up You're not Child
I agree! Disney is for all ages.
one of my roommates was a disney adult. mostly harmless. probably valued winnie the pooh mugs over my human life, but i get it
i’d value winnie the pooh over my own life so valid ig
Mostly harmless until they're standing over you in your sleep with a pot of HuUuNnNnYyYy
😂
Awww i love this discription
In his defense, I would probably trade your life for a Winnie the Pooh mug, myself.
adding onto the starbucks “partner” thing, at subway they called you a “sandwich artist” HOW ARE WE ARTISTS???
15:00 the reason they call them cast members actually makes sense. They are all essentially part of a giant theatrical production. At least, that was walt disney's idea. It's been a term thats been used for a longgggg time before all the issues they have today
The "I run on Shakeology" shirt she's wearing ties the whole thing together with a big pink bow
Dude thank you for being super open minded! I won’t deny Disney Adults can be crazy at times but I really appreciate you at least trying to understand the passion. I think a lot of your points were fair and I thought your Disney Adult iceberg was hilarious. Not a resident of Golden Oaks btw 😂
Kurtis, please normalize Dreamworks adults I’m begging you, I need to make a Megamind themed bathroom without being criticized
make the floor the "no maidens?" meme
Please make it I won’t judge
BASED
Shrek ❤️😭
cringe Disney adults, chad dreamworks adults
I don't even know what I would request- you know-for another topic like this, but I loved this video and want more content LIKE IT.
I re-watched the fox and the hound yesterday. cried twice. that movie still slaps.
I think it's entirely true that Disney Adults aren't really any different than people who get really into sports or really into other media franchises or hobbies, but in the sense that while the vast majority of passionate fans are harmlessly just indulging themselves there are people who take it too far. And by that I don't mean they're spending an absurd amount of money on merch and trips or buying tacky homes or getting tacky tattoos or things that just aren't considered "respectable" for grown adults to like and enjoy. I think when you allow yourself to become so obsessed with something it consumes your personality you're much more likely to become the type of person to riot when your sports team loses or sexually harass actors who played characters you became infatuated with, or send death threats to actors who played characters you don't like or whoever you think is responsible for a creative decision you disagree with, or other fans who have different opinions on the text/characters/romantic pairings. Because when you identify with something to that extent you can't separate the thing from yourself. You riot when your sports team loses because you feel like YOU tried your hardest and still failed, you get defensive about criticism of the brand you like because you feel like that's criticism of you personally, and you throw a bitchfit when the character you identify with doesn't get the most screen time or the coolest action scene or hooks up with the character you lust after because you feel like the story belongs to you and you personally are being betrayed by not having your specific power fantasy indulged.
im not a disney adult even in the slightest but normalize being an adult and just wanting to have fun on rides and playing with toys. ya the artistry is cool. but also rides are just fun
I want to see Disney millennials and Harry Potter millennials in a fight
Yes
Lol. Children. Now where's my Pokemon cartridges
Harry Potter millennials are cool
that's weird I'm a gen Z'er and I'm a Disney adult i grew up with 2000s/90s Disney/pixar movies like the incredibles, monsters.inc, finding nemo, the lion king, toy story 1 and 2,cars,ratatoulle,wall-e,up and i still watch those movies today on DVD and on Disney+ 💿👌🏻😎🏰
Celebration, Florida was also built by Disney, another place you can live outside Disney resorts. Super creepy, reminded me of Stepfords Wives everything I ever had to drive through it.
I’d consider myself a Disney adult as I am extremely knowledgeable about the brand itself along with the parks, and have visited both Disney World and Disneyland more than your average person. With my intense love/mild obsession for Disney, I have found myself grappling with that same question of “why the fuck am I dedicating so much of my money, and space in my head for this corporation?” And the truth is it’s comforting, Disney has always been some thing that I’ve run to in times of stress or difficulty as a distraction, and or escape. That’s kind of what Walt’s films were always all about. Being a distraction, some thing with a happy ending. I think some of you will understand what I mean when I say everything about Disney feels like a happy ending. You start to feel like you grow relationships with the characters because they’ve been there through many phases of your life I’ve been watching the Muppets Christmas Carol since I was four years old and I don’t think there has it been a Christmas I haven’t watched it and same goes for Mikey’s once and twice upon a Christmas. In a way they’ve watched me grow up and guided me through life up to this point. that sounds fucking crazy I know, but that’s the best way for me to explain it. Disney is always going to be magical for me, but I will never not be critical of them for doing something very distasteful. When I heard about them trying to trademark Dia de los Muertos I was discussed. the fact that they even tried to do that shows such disrespect of the culture they were trying to represent. Fortunately, they were met with enough backlash that they walked back on trying to trade mark it, but that doesn’t make up for the fact that they tried to do it. As someone who loves Disney I hold them to a very high standard. I’m not scared to be the first to say when they fuck up. I hope to see Disney come under better management and to continue to see them become more culturally diverse and understanding as they continue to make media productions. Also love to see them stop being so money hungry in the parks and charging you for literally everything they nickel and dime you to death and it’s been getting worse over the last two years. But now I just feel like I’m going off on a tangent so, I hope you guys know that a lot of Disney adults aren’t completely engulfed so far into their obsession to not know that Disney does horrible things sometimes and that I personally do not agree with every decision that Disney makes in anyway. :))))
All I remember from our Disney trip was the AWESOME food- not the street stuff, but the restaurants. Really good stuff. Epcot was cool too.
Great video. Also I feel like if anyone living in the Golden Oaks mansions even THINKS about modifying or removing any of the Disney imagery within the house, Disney will execute them on the spot. And the all-white decor is going to look nasty after any human being stays there for longer than a month, even less if they happen to smoke lmao.
Lady: “Classy Disney”
Woody: reclining amicably yet sensually in the corner of the ceiling
@gabi gaz "sensual wpody" is the worst phrase I've heard today
Hahaha
@gabi gaz TO AID THEM
@applepi something that will make your ears bleed
There's no shame in being a Millennial, darling! I happen to think your generation will bring good things to this world. It's not hard to understand Disney Adults-- Disney has always sold us a wonderful, nostalgic, lovely image of life. Who doesn't want the world to be more like that? It's an escape from reality (as intended) and can easily become an addiction. The House of Mouse is super-cali-fragilisic-expi-ali-docious at selling you every-every-EVERYthing you want. Great analysis, Kurtis. I appreciate your perspective!
I’m far from a Disney adult, but living in any amusement park sounds badass!
2 tier Disney adult here. I absolutely LOVE this video. I haven’t been to Disney world for 8 years but I miss it. I made my now husband (who is 8 years older then me) go because it was my dream to go as an adult with no children. They say “welcome home” when you stay at one of the resorts and it made me cry 🤣 I can laugh at myself. I love Disney. It’s very nostalgic for me but I can absolutely still laugh at the ridiculousness of it all.
A few years ago I was contacted for a content writing job for a series of Disney for adults websites. At first I thought it was porn bc of the way they described it but then realized it was just grown people who were super Disney crazy and they are serious. I had never heard of Disney adults before this.
She said Beauty and the Beast themed glass and I was literally imagining and expecting to see the stained glass window with Belle and the Beast and the rose and all that and not a cheap sticker I could get from Walmart and just stick on my window.
THANK YOU I thought the same thing, like the actual stained glass would be beautiful but NOPE
it's literally etched glass that you could DIY not stained glass lmao
those beauty and the beast stickers were so depressing,, i felt so bad looking at them LOL
Honestly, if these houses weren't so big. They would look pretty cheap and I'm guessing that they only cost so much because well. It's Disney. It kinda feels like the equivalent of buying an expensive shirt JUST for the brand, even though you can just thrift for better-looking shirts.
You can buy a better house if you had that much money. But if your wish is to have Woody stuck to the ceiling of your bedroom while you get wood. Well, I can't stop you there.
"Disney's problematic future"? Yeah like uhhh donating in favor of anti-lgbt laws😭😭 i like the movies etc but man the company is the worst shit ever
I just found your channel & I absolutely love your sense of humor ☠️ sophisticated and chaotic it’s the best
something that i love about kurtis is that even tho he’ll make vids talking about different generations or disney adults, he’s still respectful yk?? like he doesn’t encourage his fans to go attack different communities or anything like that
